Students are encouraged to include any kind of format or item that enhances clarity in data analysis, such as graphs, charts, tables, diagrams, maps and the like. Empirical information to sustain points is a crucial part of this assessment, reason for which students should always use reliable and official sources.
Students will choose one of the following options as their final project:
Public policy analysis
The ‘public policy analysis’, as it will be discussed in Week 7, is a text that can be articulated from different approaches and frameworks in order to discuss and evaluate current or potential policies in the public domain related to specific social issues. For the purpose of this module, the ‘public policy analysis’ will present and explain a new policy in relation to a particular social issue or problem in China, either at a local or national level.
Students will choose one of the following major policy areas in China to elaborate their policy analysis:
Sustainable development
Housing and real estate
Public health
Education
The ‘public policy analysis should have the following sections:
Problem or issue related to the policy
Policy formulation
Implementation and implications
Evaluation and final impact
Market research
This text will present an assessment in order to explain the considerations, strategies and feasibility of introducing a commodity or service into the Chinese market. The ‘market research’, as it will be discussed in Week 5, is a text that focuses in explaining the market environment, actors and challenges a certain product or service could face when entering into a new market. This text combines different methodologies to present its assessment and it has a clear strategic focus, as it is mostly used by business people and corporations to inform their future decisions and investments.
The ‘market research’ should have the following sections:
Background information
Consumer profiles and niches
SWOT assessment
Marketing strategies and feasibility
