PHYSICS 2002L Fundamentals of Physics: Theory and Practice

Hello, if you have any need, please feel free to consult us, this is my wechat: wx91due

PHYSICS 2002L, Exam #1,

1) A car’s driver applies the brakes with a deceleration of -5m/s2  so as to slow down a car to 20m/s over a 50m distance.

a) (15 points) Determine the initial speed of the car.

b) (10 points) Determine the braking time.

2) A projectile is fired from ground at 100m/s at an angle of 370  above ground.

a) (15 points) Determine when it reaches its highest point and the position of that point.

b) (10 points) Determine the time and position at which it strikes a wall 400m away.

3) A leopress leaps from ground at an angle of 530   above ground to reach a tree top 3m above ground on a tree 6m from her initial position. Determine her initial speed and the time she’s in the air.

4) A 100kg block rests on a surface with which the coefficients of static and kinetic friction are 0.2 and 0.15 respectively.  The block is moving horizontally while being pulled by a 250N force acting at an angle of 530  above horizontal. Determine the acceleration of the block.

5) A zebra runs at 16m/s. A lion on steroids starts accelerating starting at rest at 8m/s2 towards the zebra when it is 20m away from him. Determine the time it takes for the lion to catch the zebra, his speed when he catches it, and the distance he travels during that time.
