Part 1: Group Presentation (30 marks)
Form groups of 4-5. Conduct secondary research about the topic below and present your findings:
‘The prevalence of employing social media influencers in marketing products and services’
- Your group has 20 minutes to present your findings on the given topic
- All members of the group MUST present.
- All sources used must be clearly indicated.
- Your group needs to plan and structure your presentation within 20 minutes to clearly show the impact of influencer culture on youth consumer habits
- Your group is not restricted to just a PowerPoint presentation but can enhance the presentation through engagement.
Part 2: Group Report (70 marks)
From the same group formed for your group presentation, explore the following topic:
‘Understanding the impact of influencer culture on youth consumer habits
What to do?
- Read up on existing articles on what are the types of questions usually asked for such research topics.
- Decide if your group would like to conduct a qualitative or quantitative research.
- Determine your research approach [qualitative – focus group / interview; quantitative questionnaire via hardcopy / online].
- Determine your sample size. Suggestion: Qualitative minimum 20; quantitative minimum 50.
- Draft and check your research questions that you are going to use.
- Conduct your research and collect your data.
- Analyse your data and present your findings in a structured manner.
Grade awarded for group assessment will be the same for everyone in the group, unless there are disputes, in which case the lecturer has the discretion to award individual marks. Proper records of communication and evidence of work must be submitted in the event of disputes. Note that group disputes will affect your GROUP EFFORT component of the grade.
