Assignment:

Given this, and as a trained, sustainable and responsible business professional, you are tasked to advise relevant decision-makers, e.g. senior management team, including the board of advisors, on how businesses/organisations (from any sector) in your country (country of origin preferably) should reimagine their responsible business innovation strategy towards sustainable futures. For example, businesses based on their irresponsible practices in making a business case ensuing positive outcomes for equality, inclusion, circular thinking and climate action in achieving sustainable development.

NB: You can identify an organisation of your choice from any sector in your home country with a record of experiencing or practising irresponsible business practices.

As an integral part of your responsible innovation business case, your report should aim to:

a) Reshape the organisation or the sector’s business-as-usual sustainability agenda to a purpose-driven approach promoting responsible innovation business practices.

b) Realign the purpose and direction of the responsible innovation business case to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation, including giving a minimum weighting to environmental social Governance (ESG) practices aligned within supply and value chains, where relevant.

c) Make relevant decision-makers aware of a new business opportunity, educate them as to how they can seize this opportunity and the benefits, and justify the costs and potential risks and challenges of acting against the benefits to be expected.

d) Address the importance of policy integration formulations and the role of stakeholders in overcoming cross-cutting responsible business portfolios/issues and responsibilities e.g. within the organisation's departments or sectors at the local or national levels.

e) Address the potential benefits and obstacles/challenges vis-à-vis the transition to responsible business and a sustainable development future, e.g., sustainability value creation benefits and barriers.

Module Learning Outcomes:

LO 1. Distinguish and critically analyse the various conceptual understandings of responsible and sustainable management and its practice.

LO 2. Appraise the complexity and interconnectedness of global sustainability challenges inherent in the broader social, environmental, and economic landscape in which businesses operate.

LO3. Connect theory and practice to identify the challenges and opportunities raised by key sustainable and responsible business issues and develop solutions to address these issues in various organisational contexts.

Grading Criteria:

· A critical review of the organisation's corporate sustainability policy agenda, issues, and analyses communicated effectively.

· Evidence of an in-depth understanding of the reasons behind a responsible innovation business and a discussion of the relevance of aligning policy and business case towards a purpose-led approach to promoting sustainable development.

· Demonstrates excellence in original and critical thinking in arguments or approaches towards designing an integrated and coherent responsible business policy agenda.

· Statements are consistently supported using relevant, high-quality evidence and references from reliable sources.

· Address the potential benefits and challenges vis-à-vis the transition to responsible innovation business, net-zero emissions and sustainable development.

· Very well-structured report with all sections integrated, allowing a coherent and logical progression of ideas, evidence, justification and conclusions.

· English grammar is very high quality and has a narrative style that communicates clearly in the report.
