CW1 – 1,500 Word Formative Essay (0% of total module mark)
Choose an emerging economy and download data on sectoral financial balances – the fiscal balance, the current account, and the private sector balance. The data should cover a period that includes at least one substantial change in the balances. Describe and explain this change using secondary literature on the country to guide you, any other data you may need, and the macroeconomic models discussed in the course.
CW2 – 1,500 Word Essay (100% of total module mark)
Choose any major macroeconomic event of interest in an emerging economy. For example: Debt default

• Natural resource discovery
Download and present data on this event and use any of the theories and models covered in the course to explain it.
