CIS105 SURVEY OF COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS
At-Home Final Exam Project 1
Microsoft PowerPoint
After all that you've learned in this course, you want to present the various hardware parts of a computer to some friends who have never seen the inside of one, let alone bought one on their own.
Using your knowledge, create a presentation that gives them an overview of the parts of a computer, both inside and out, and some recommendations on computers to purchase.
Storyboard Instructions
- Using the Storyboard Microsoft Word Template(opens in a new tab) provided on this page, create a storyboard for your presentation. This should include a Title slide at the beginning and a References slide at the end. The presentation should include 8-10 slides total.
-
Review the requirements below and note any requirements on the storyboard where applicable.
- You may show on your storyboard locations where you will use animation or pictures.
- Use the Storyboard to plan your content and main talking points, as well as multimedia and pictures.
- Save your Storyboard document as Storyboard_MEID.docx (Replace MEID with your MEID number).
PowerPoint Presentation Instructions
- Create a New PowerPoint Presentation and choose a Template that you feel applies to a technology-related presentation. You may change the colors to the theme; however, this is not required.
- On the title slide, include your Name, Section Number, MEID, and current date.
- For the second slide, create an introduction slide that summarizes what you'll be presenting, touching on all the major points.
-
Create 5-7 content slides centered around buying a new computer from your local retailer and comparing different kinds of hardware.
- Be Creative!
- Your slides should provide an overview of the different types of hardware (both inside and outside of the computer), what they are used for, and compare and contrast different hardware components. Pretend you're presenting to someone who has never seen the inside of a computer before; what would they find inside and out? (Hint: Maybe this was you at the beginning of the course, what would you tell your younger self about computers after all you've learned).
- Include images, WordArt, and Diagrams.
- Include numbered and bulleted lists (at least one of each).
- Include varied font formatting (change font size, color, weight).
- Use 2-3 different slide layouts.
- Follow readability and accessibility guidelines for each slide, don't overload it with text or hard-to-read text.
- Edit the Slide Master and add your MEID to each slide in either the lower-right or lower-left corner.
- On any slide, place two shapes and group them together.
- Add in Presenter Notes for each slide in the presentation.
- Create a References Slide and use APA citation to cite all references for content and pictures used throughout the presentation.
- Apply Slide Transitions to EACH slide.
- Add animations to EACH slide.
- Preview your presentation in Presentation Mode and use the Annotation tool to create emphasis on a particular point on a slide.
- Check the document for any spelling or grammatical errors.
- Save your file as "ComputerPurchase_MEID.pptx" (Note: Replace MEID with your actual MEID).
