AMS2640 Statistical Computing in Practice

Project Guideline

(I)   Project Introduction

Students are required to form groups and work together. Each group should have 3 - 5 students from the same session. Students will be randomly assigned into a group if they fail to form a group on or before the deadline. A Group ID will be assigned to each group once the group formation is finalized. Students must provide the correct Group ID on all submissions.

Database will be provided on Moodle. Based on the given database, students should select a dataset and record your choice of selection on Moodle, design the background and objectives of the project. Students should apply statistical methodologies to analyze the selected dataset and present appropriate results. Calculations are expected to be completed with Base SAS/ SAS Studio.

(II) Project Assessment Criteria

The total marks of the project are 100. The project assessment criteria include three components:

(a) Group Presentation (30%) (b) Written Report (50%)

(c) Peer Evaluation (20%)

The group/individual performance will be assessed according to the aforementioned components with assessment forms as shown in Annexes 1-3.

(a) Group Presentation (30%)

The presentation must be conducted in English.

The length of the presentation is 20 minutes for each group (including Q&A session). Members of the same group will be assessed individually. The submission of the presentation file should be final (i.e. no further amendments is allowed after the submission). Presentation schedule will be announced after group formation is finalized.
