LEARNING OUTCOMES: 2,3,5,6,7

PURPOSE: This is part of a series of submissions that assess a student’s capacities to forward a problem through to evidence-based decisions. This assessment item applies concepts drawn from the Aggregate, Apply, and Assess phases of the  EBD process as well as from the Ask, Acquire and Appraise phases.

DESCRIPTION: A business report that proposes a pathway to resolve the previously defined management problem.

RETURN OF FEEDBACKUp to 10 working days after submission, excluding semester breaks

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Select the format – Students may choose either of the following formats using the Format Selection link provided on Wattle for this purpose.

i) Live briefing: A live presentation made individually to the marker online, supported by slides, and followed by answers to questions from the marker; this online session will be recorded. Students must upload their slides and any extra slides required for a reference list to Wattle prior to their live presentation. Students who select this option should also advise any other commitments during the presentation period. This is so that their presentation can be scheduled to avoid those commitments.

ii) Written report: A business report.

Note that students who do not make a selection by the specified time and date will be deemed to have selected format ii) – written report.

2. Describe the action to betaken: In the selected format, aggregate and appraise the evidence gathered, and then apply it in planning implementation of appropriate action.

STRUCTURE AND CONTENTS:

There is no set structure, but the following content is to be covered and the structure you select should meet the purpose of communicating with senior management. If not using a supplied case study, anonymise the name of the organisation. Note that requirements for two tables are specified. Other tables or appendices supplied will not be assessed.

Note: The relative weightings of the items of coverage gives you guidance on their relative importance for assessment, and therefore how to focus your effort. You can use this to help plan your work by using the weightings to allocate your time and the approximate number of words to each item. Proper referencing is a Submission Requirement (see separate section for details) and therefore has no weighting in this table, but not meeting that requirement will impact your assessment.
