Continuous Assessment 2 – Group Assignment (40%)

Read the instructions in your Course Outline, CA Outline and your Canvas portal carefully. If you still have queries read the FAQ first and then email queries via your SIM student account. You will be penalized with marks deduction if the instructions are not strictly followed.

Please be reminded that plagiarism and collusion is a serious offence, and all cases will be referred to the administration. Grades will be withheld if the submission is suspected for plagiarism or collusion till investigations are completed.

CA Submission

CAs must be submitted online via Canvas portal. Please read through instructions in your Canvas portal and CA outline carefully before submitting. If you have further queries, please read the FAQ. If after you have read the FAQ, you need assistance on Canvas submission, please email to [email protected] or call 6248 9393 Option 4. For non-Canvas  issues please email  [email protected]. Please email with your SIM student account. Email from other addresses will not be entertained. If issues raised are covered, you will be directed to read through instructions in the CA outline, Canvas and the FAQ. Please take time read through before raising issues.

PART 1: GROUP WRITTEN REPORT (30%)

1. This is a group assignment.

2.  Form a group 4-5 students and submit the ‘GROUP PROJECT FORM’ to the lecturer by Lesson 3. It is the student’s responsibility to find and join a group. Students without group will receive ZERO (0) marks.

3. All group members will receive the same marks for the assignment unless the group advised the lecturer that group members have not contributed equally in writing through the Peer Evaluation Form. In that case, the lecturer may award different marks to the group members.

4. The assignment has TWO (2) deliverables, i.e., a written group report (30%) and a group oral presentation (10%). Students must complete BOTH components.

5.  Read the following negotiation quotes and answer ALL the questions.

Quote 1:  Never cut what you can untie.”

Quote 3: “Your ORIGINAL negotiation quote.”

Quote 5: “Your ORIGINAL negotiation quote.”

Quote 6: “Your ORIGINAL negotiation quote.”

5.1      Question:

Quote 1 and Quote 2: Does the group agree or disagree with the quotes? Defend the group’s position.

Quotes 3-6: Create the group’s ORIGINAL negotiation quotes. Defend the group’s quotes.

Word count for each quote is 450 words (+/- 10%, write between 405 and 495 words)

Total: 450 words x 6 quotes = 2700 words (+/- 10%, write between 2430 and 2970 words)

6. Guidance on written group report (30%)

6.1 Each group must submit ONE written group report. Students should keep a copy of assignment submitted.

6.2 The report should have:

. Cover page

. Content page

Introduction

. Write-up of six negotiation quotes

. Conclusion

. References

. Appendices, as appropriate.

6.3 Written report:

a)   The cover page should include the FULL names and student ID numbers of all group members as in the register.

b)   The content page should include the section titles and the page number they are found on.

c)   The introduction should briefly include the purpose of the report. Approximately 150 words (+/-10%, write between 135 and 165 words).

d)   The conclusion should summarise key findings of the six negotiation quotes.

e)   Each group is required to provide at least SIX (6) references in APA format.

f)    The appendix should include team members’ roles and responsibilities.

6.4 The report must be type-written with words in 1.5 line spacing, font-size 12, Times New Roman. This report must be submitted in Word format.

6.5 The report should be approximately 3000 words (+/- 10%, write between 2700 and 3300 words). The word count excludes cover page, content page, references, and appendices. State the word count at the end of the report.


6.6 The report will be marked out of 75 marls and counts for 30% of the total assessment in the module. Please refer to assessment template for breakdown of marks.

6.7 Only one member of the group submits the assignment. If group leader is not available, another member should take over and submit for the group. This is a group assignment; all members are responsible for the submission.

6.8 Submit your assignment through Canvas dropbox before the deadline. A mandatory mark deduction will be imposed for late submission. No submission will be accepted 24 hours after deadline. No hardcopies of the assignment will be accepted.

PART 2: GROUP ORAL PRESENTATION (10%)

1.  Each group will present the contents in their written report during Lesson 13 or Lesson 14.

2.  Do an oral presentation with a maximum of 12 PowerPoint slides. No submission of PowerPoint slides / handouts is required.

3.  Each group is allocated 20 minutes. Be prepared to answer any questions. You should demonstrate good understanding and knowledge of your negotiation quotes.

4.  Each group will be assigned a date and time to present in class during Lesson 13 or Lesson 14. The presentation schedule will be shared by the lecturer in Canvas. All group members must speak during the oral presentation and be present to answer questions.

5.  The oral presentation will be marked out of 25 marks and counts for 10% of the total assessment in the module. Please refer to assessment template for breakdown of marks.
