Module Title: Futures First – Professional Self-Management

Date Available: 13th March 2024

Submission details:  Tuesday 28th May 2024, 12pm (noon).

Submission is through Blackboard only.

Students should note that the time of submission is taken from once the video has been successfully uploaded and confirmed – this may take some time. This is due to software requirements related to the presentation and the time for upload is strongly affected by strength of Wifi signal. Late penalties will be applied to any work submitted after the deadline. Details of how to calculate a late penalty can be found in your programme handbook. It is your responsibility to ensure the correct document/file has uploaded successfully.

When submitting, students must:

1. Include a completed cover sheet (available from Blackboard called “Individual Coversheet MGT11001-2 with screenshots”) which must include both mySkills screenshots as per the filled in pdf called “Individual Coversheet MGT11001-2 with screenshots example”

2. On the coversheet where you are asked for the timing give the length of the presentation in minutes and seconds.

3. The first slide in your presentation you must include your student number which you should also say out loud. Names should not be included owing to anonymous marking protocols. You must not show your face on the presentation.

4. Use ‘Student Number, MGT11001-2’ (e.g. 190011001 MGT11001-2) as the document’s file name and also as the Assignment Title in Blackboard.

5. You are only permitted to submit the video using Kaltura Capture.

6. Make sure that the Publish settings in Kaltura Capture are set as Unlisted and not Private

A penalty of 5 marks will apply for students who do not comply with all these requirements. You will not be permitted to re-submit any work after the deadline if you subsequently realise you have not met these requirements. Therefore, please check your work carefully before submitting it for assessment.

Contribution to Final Mark for Module: 50 %

Maximum Length: 15 minutes

If you produce a video over 15 minutes you will be penalised at the following rate: 15.01 – 16:00 – 5 points. 16.01 – 17.00 – 10 points. 17.01 and over, 15 points.

Requirements:

The presentation is designed to complement your Career Development Plan and asks you to share more of your ideas and thoughts about your career plans. You must discuss in your narration your views on 4 different topics, listed below as a to d:

a) The reason why you think that, at this point in your development, the career choice you have chosen is most suitable for you

b) What you have learnt from this module, in relation to three Sheffield Graduate Attributes

c) How you are currently developing relevant skills for your career choice

d) How you will approach your future development in relation to three Sheffield Graduate Attributes

A template slide pack is available on Blackboard called “MGT11001-02 Powerpoint Template Slides” which should be used to form the basis for your presentation. You must include, as a minimum, all of the 9 slides in the template but you can add as many extra slides as you need.

You must record your presentation while it plays on your computer using Kaltura Capture. For instructions about how to do this see: Kaltura Capture | Digital learning for students | Student hub (sheffield.ac.uk)

Other matters:

1. You are advised to use a campus-based computer to make sure you have sufficient Wi-Fi signal strength to upload the assessment. Where you are working remotely, you must leave sufficient time to upload the assignment. There will be no reduction in penalties for late submissions because of IT-related problems.
